LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Police detectives and fire department arson investigators today were trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose body was found burning in a South Los Angeles street.

The body was found at 319 W. 94th St., near Broadway, around 9:40 p.m. Monday, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Someone called authorities to report that the body was burning in the street, prompting a response by firefighters and police, said Los Angeles police Lt. Andy Neiman of the Media Relations section.

The body was that of a woman, but her identity had not been determined this morning, said Los Angeles County coroner’s Investigator Selena Barrows.
